How it all began
Lottie was born in Curaçao and returned to visit her native country in the 1990s. During this trip she visited a daycare center called Mi Kasita, My House. The name stuck with her and when she started a foundation herself, they decided to call it Nos Kasita, Our House.
At the time, Lottie was a primary school teacher and was always ready to help parents with their children. This gave her the reputation of a kind-hearted caregiver.
One day someone from the bureau of family law affairs came in with a child that needed care. Her name was Milaisa. She became Lottie's first official care child. Milaisa was raised by Lottie and became a teacher herself. She currently works as a teacher in the mornings and helps Lottie in Nos Kasita in the afternoons.
In the year 2000, Nos Kasita became a registered foundation in Suriname.
