How it all began
Nos Kasita is a residential care facility where children and young people live together as a group, with caring staff to look after them.
The aim of this home is to meet the needs of children who can't live with their own families. This means that as well as providing food, shelter, and space for play and leisure in a safe environment, it also is a place where children can grow and develop.
Suriname
Suriname is a small country on the northeastern coast of South America. It's defined by vast swaths of tropical rainforest, Dutch colonial architecture and a melting-pot culture.
Suriname is not a densely populated country. 95% of the country is forest, which makes Suriname the world’s most densely forested country. The Surinamese population consists of diverse groups in terms of ethnicity, religion, culture and origins. Most of the population lives in Paramaribo, the capital city, where most of the cultural activities take place.
The children who find a home, permanently or temporarily, at Nos Kasita come from all the different ethnic groups found in Suriname. They all receive the same love and kindness. Most importantly they are encouraged to keep their cultural identity.
Among our daily necessities are three meals a day, medical care, clothing, salaries, expenses for water, electricity, and transportation!
